LITEPAPER

ABSTRACT

Modern life comes with novel challenges that test the limits of human nature and self control. Retaining a healthy sleep cycle and avoiding outright body clock abuse is a growing concern amidst a tidal wave of everyday stresses and an increasing amount of literature underpinning the dangers of neglecting the most important part of one’s health and overall immunity.

GameFi (Game Finance) is a new trend that can sugarcoat useful habits that require a strong will to follow through. An exciting innovation in the blockchain space that combines gamification, NFT ownership and DeFi tech to build exciting opportunities for both investors and users alike. Made popular by Play-to-earn crypto games, the space is now rapidly growing with new ways to make the mundane both fun and profitable.

Dormint is the first app that incentivises a user to improve their sleeping habits and profit from them; an engaging ecosystem where healthy sleep is rewarded with tokens that can be used in a variety of ways.

Dormint:
key elements

pillows

PIllows are the main instrument that allows for earning. Pillows are presented in a form of NFT (Non-fungible tokens). Pillows are like a character in any video game - users level them up, customize, and boost them with additional in-game elements. The higher the level of your Pillow the more DORM tokens you earn.

How to get a Pillow?

The first 10 000 Pillows are preminted and can be obtained on a future sale for enthusiasts that what to become beta-testers and receive additional benefits.

///

Other Pillows will be generated through the Pillow-Minting Process (PMP) occurs when players use two Pillows as blueprints to "breed", thereby creating a Pillow box. For a PMP to begin, these two Pillows must have full durability.

///

Once a Pillow has been selected, users can click the Mint tab, select the Pillow they would like to "breed" with, and press Mint. Upon receiving the Pillow box, the user can immediately open it.

///

Once the Pillow box is opened, users get a new Pillow, with the Pillow rarity determined by the Pillow box rarity.

Each Pillow will have a limited number of PMPs. The more PMPs a Pillow has, the more DORM it will cost. The costs of Mint for each Pillow that takes part in PMP are calculated separately and added together for the final Minting cost.

Each Pillow can be a blueprint for PMP once every limited period, which will be determined after the simulations are finished.

It should also be noticed that the rarity (that is described later) of a Pillow box depends on the rarity of each blueprint used for PMP.

Pillows types

We are all unique when it comes to our sleeping habits, and Dormint has come up with a solution that hopes to engage every type of sleeper out there whilst minimising sleep cycle abuse. This means that different Pillows will allow for token generation during specific times of day and up to a limited number of hours. The stricter the rules for a qualifying cycle, the more tokens may be earned.

The casual sleeper

Sleep duration:
up to 8 hours daily

Period of sleep:
Start from 21:00 to 2:00 Finish before 12:00

Sleep as a way of living

Sleep duration:
up to 12 hours daily

Period of sleep:
Start from 21:00 to 4:00 Finish before 16:00

The night shifter

Sleep duration:
up to 8 hours daily

Period of sleep:
Start from 7:00 to 14:00 Finish before 23:00

Early birds

Sleep duration:
up to 8 hours daily

Period of sleep:
Start from 18:00 to 00:00 Finish before 8:00

Nightcrawlers

Sleep duration:
up to 8 hours daily

Period of sleep:
Start from 23:00 to 4:00 Finish before 13:00

As Dormint evolves, alternative Pillow types will be developed with user behaviour, beta tester feedback and ongoing data analysis in mind.

Pillow attributes

Comfort

A good night’s rest can only be helped by feeling cosy. The higher this attribute the more DORM earned. Additional Pillows you own will further increase this amount.

Durability

Pillows sadly don’t last forever and need to be repaired to minimise significant loss of Comfort. The more times a Pillow is used, the more its lowered Durability affects Comfort. Try to take care of your Pillow and repair it early and often. Note that a more comfortable Pillow has higher repair costs - quality demands sacrifice.

Luck

Some dreams do come true. This attribute might just help you get a better Pillow Box as a result of PMP… if you are lucky.

Pillow rarity

Rarity determines the minimum and maximum range of attributes when they are randomly assigned during minting. No two Pillows of equal rarity are alike and can have significant differences in their attributes.

Pillow Levels

Each level up of a Pillow allows users to distribute additional points to any of the attributes. The number of additional level-up depends on Pillow rarity.

It is possible to level up Pillows by burning DORM. Each level-up takes a fixed time to complete, which increases along with the amount of DORM required according to the PIllow level. It is possible to make this process even faster by using even more DORM.

Dormint offers 5 different levels of Pillow rarity

Pillow
customization

Some Pillows will be part of a collection to incentivise hunting for specific Pillows in order to gain additional bonuses.

/02

Pillow Gems

When a Pillow reaches its level cap Gems will enable attribute allocation beyond level cap limit.

/03

Pillow collections

Dormint will feature the ability for the user to change some of his/her favourite Pillow data: description, colour, etc.

More to come...

Boosters

When you don't sleep enough or fall out of the sleep cycle, you reduce the level of Health rate that lessens the amount of DORM you earn.

Boosters are obtained through an in-app Marketplace and can help to fully or partially remove negative deviations from the optimal levels of your metrics.

///

Energy drink allows you to compensate for a lack of sleep.

///

Melatonin allows you to return to the sleep cycle.

///

Sleeping pills linearly or randomly (depending on the type) increase the number of DORM earned per sleep cycle, etc.

You can buy Boosters for DORM tokens and activate them manually, or set an auto-use.

Dormint:
Main systems

Health rate system

Healthy sleep is not just the number of hours spent in bed, but also a discipline with bio-logic, and necessary adherence to a regime. All core systems in Dormint take a holistic approach to monitor and help the user reach their goals. The Health rate indicator aims to mimic this complexity and affects the number of tokens that are earned. It is established with the aid of microphone and (optional) health sensor data. The user will simply inform the application by indicating the beginning and end of his Sleep cycle and the app will do the rest.

The Health rate is affected by three main multipliers:

  • Booster effects
  • Negative effects
  • Penalties

A user starts out with the optimal Health rate value, which may go down depending on how much they violate their sleep regime, with the worst offences completely disabling the earnings for that Sleep cycle.

Negative effects and Penalties are the first multipliers that are applied to a user’s Health rate and have a greater effect than Boosters. The newly modified Health Rate remains and affects the next Sleep cycle after which it is reassessed.

Earning Cap/Mechanics

There is a cap on the amount of DORM a user is able to earn per day regardless of the Pillows in their collection and Main Pillow Slot. This cap can only be increased by burning the required amount of DORM.

Sleeping ticket

To prevent systemic abuse, a Sleeping ticket is issued every 12 hours and required to begin the Sleep cycle. Initially the user may only hold a single ticket, but may increase the amount by owning specific sets of Pillows.

DORM can only be earned for a Sleep cycle lasting at least 3 hours and by avoiding a Critical penalty. This occurs if the user wakes up in the middle of a cycle and does not return to sleep during a 30 minute Grace period which is expandable via Boosters.

An additional Sleeping ticket can be used as a last resort to bring the Sleep cycle to completion (including any existing hours) assuming there are still Main Pillow qualifying hours remaining.

Gamification
systems

Dormint aims to make the process of forming healthy sleeping habits as easy and fun as it is possible. That is why it includes additional Gamification elements that help user engagement.

Quest system

Dormint will launch a Quest system with daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. These will engage the user and provide for fun diversions.

For instance:

  • Power nap - have a nap during the middle of your active day

  • Sweet dreamer - improve the average quality of sleep in the next week by 20%
  • Achievement System

As in the case with the Quest system, this system will motivate users to follow their sleeping schedule. Some of the achievements will be visible, and some of them will not be displayed until achieved.

    For instance:

  • Streaks - 1, 2, 3 weeks streak in terms of following sleeping schedule

  • The Collector - Collect one of each type of Pillow
  • Other systems

    Anti-Cheat

We believe that Dormint should create the same opportunity for all users and make countering cheaters a key principle. We will collect data and improve the system on a continual basis.

    Moreover, some of the anti-cheat measures are incorporated into game mechanics, such as: limiting the number of Sleep cycles starts by introducing Sleeping tickets;

    Tax and Fee System

    Platform Fee — 3%
    Royalty Fee* — 5%
    Pillow-Minting — 7%

    * The Royalty Fee is payable to the NFT creators

    Dormint Marketplace

In-game items such as NFTs, boosters, and all future products will be exchangeable within the in-app marketplace.

Marketplace will be released at the App launch date.

    Dormint: Off-chain features

The main idea behind Dormint is to not only financially motivate people to form healthy sleeping habits but also help them by introducing free features according to the latest Somnology findings.

  • Sleep health scanner
  • Special melodies for easy awakening
  • Special melodies and sounds for falling asleep
  • Screen night mode etc.
  • Other features will be developed and introduced as Dormint collects feedback from its users.

    Tokenomics

    What is DORM?

DORM is an essential part of Dormint and has several implications for different user groups. DORM is a BEP-20 utility token built on the Binance Smart Chain that has the following uses:

    User rewards:

DORM is used to reward users according to the Earning Cap and Mechanics

    Game mechanics:

  • DORM is used for PMP - the PMPs performed by a Pillow, the more - DORM it will cost
  • DORM is used for regular leveling-up of any Pillow, even more DORM is used if a user wants to speed up this process
  • DORM is used for buying any additional items (such as Boosters) on Marketplace
  • DORM is used to increase the initial Earning Cap for a user’s account
  • Governance Vault:

DORM is a governance token that allows holders to participate in Governance decisions of the platform, using a DAO structure. They can exercise voting rights on key elements such as feature prioritization on the platform Roadmap.

    Staking:

This gives a passive income as a percentage of total revenues received by the platform. The percentage of platform revenue is distributed among staking parties according to the number of tokens staked.

    Token supply and distribution

We made a simulation model for the development of Dormint economy (issuance and burning of tokens). As we attract new users, we will collect statistics and introduce modifications to ensure that the project's economy is healthy and the gaming experience is fair and enjoyable.

    Buy-back

It is planned that 20% of play income is used to buy tokens on the market. The usage of these tokens by Dormint is as follows:

Burn: 50% of bought-back tokens are burned to reduce the circulating supply

Staking Rewards: 50% of bought-back tokens are distributed as staking rewards

    Locks

Tokens unlock will take two weeks, and the instant withdrawal will cost 10% of the income (fee will be sent as a reward to the staking pool)
